Current Account Deficit Widened in February

In February, Turkey’s current account showed a deficit of 4.405 billion dollars. According to the data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), the current account deficit was 4.405 billion dollars in February 2025. Excluding gold and energy, there was a surplus of 2.158 billion dollars in the current account. The defined foreign trade deficit in the balance of payments was 5.73 billion dollars in February. The annualized data showed that the current account deficit in February was around 12.8 billion dollars, while the defined foreign trade balance in the balance of payments showed a deficit of 58.8 billion dollars. During the same period, the services balance and secondary income balance showed surpluses of 62 billion dollars and 246 million dollars, respectively, while there was a deficit of 16.4 billion dollars in the primary income balance. Net inflows due to services amounted to 2.453 billion dollars in February, with net earnings from transportation services and travel amounting to 1.167 billion dollars and 2.06 billion dollars, respectively, under this category.
