Critical Meeting in the US: Trump Meeting Technology Leaders

US President Donald Trump is set to hold a meeting with the CEOs of the country’s largest technology companies next week. The discussion will cover topics such as import tariffs, export restrictions, and chip production. President Donald Trump is preparing to meet with major players in the technology sector. This meeting, which will be attended by CEOs of giants like HP, Intel, IBM, and Qualcomm, holds great importance for the future of the technology world. Among the main agenda items of the meeting are import tariffs, export restrictions, and regulations on the export of artificial intelligence technologies. According to Bloomberg, the meeting will take place on Monday, March 10th, at the White House. It is expected that during this meeting, company leaders will raise concerns that the additional customs duties imposed by the Trump administration could put computer and hardware manufacturers in a difficult position. US-based companies have faced interruptions in their supply chains as they heavily rely on components imported from China. The increased production costs have raised worries about American manufacturers losing competitiveness in the international markets. Additionally, the prices of products such as computers, smartphones, processors, and graphics cards are expected to rise due to the higher costs. Experts believe that competing with Chinese companies that produce at lower costs will be challenging for American giants. One of the important agenda items of the meeting will be the CHIPS and Science Act that went into effect in 2022. This law, aimed at promoting semiconductor production in the US, provides large corporations with billions of dollars in government support and tax breaks. President Donald Trump believes that these incentives are unnecessary and plans to repeal the law. In his recent address to Congress regarding the Chip Act, President Trump referred to it as a “terrible thing” and called for its repeal. It is indicated that the CEOs will request Trump to keep this law in place during the meeting scheduled for Monday.
