Craftsmen Demand Law for Retail

President Bendevi Palandöken of TESK called for the enactment of a retail law to prevent unfair competition. Once again, Turkey Confederation of Craftsmen and Artisans General President Bendevi Palandöken made a call for a retail law. Palandöken stated, “It is necessary to address the shortcomings in the retail law. Unfair competition must be intervened with a regulation. It is only possible for inflation to decrease in this way.” The TESK President said that fighting inflation is not possible without addressing the unfair competition in the market. Palandöken expressed, “Everyone has complaints. But the most important factor in solving the problem is the establishment of rules. Without addressing the deficiencies in the current law, controlling prices, inspecting 3-5 businesses on site, or creating an impression that prices are being increased by them will not work.” Despite all the calls, Palandöken also criticized the fact that the law is not being taken into consideration. He commented, “Instead of being used as the most important tool in the fight against inflation, the issue of this retail law seems to be put on the backburner. The main problem for craftsmen is the lack of regulations. Otherwise, there is no problem in competing, selling products made with their own craftsmanship, or handcrafted products.”
