Following the Kartalkaya disaster, businesses that increased prices for fire equipment were fined 7.7 million lira. Private schools that applied high prices also faced penalties of 66.2 million lira. The Ministry of Trade has decided to impose a total of 126.7 million TL in administrative fines on businesses engaging in excessive price increases. The Unfair Pricing Evaluation Board of the Ministry of Trade held its first meeting of 2025. The board took action in response to complaints about exorbitant price increases for fire safety equipment following the Kartalkaya fire tragedy. Businesses that raised the prices of fire safety equipment through various sales channels, including e-commerce platforms, were fined 7,696,810 lira. IN TOTAL 66 MILLION LIRA FINE FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS Inspections on private schools have been intensified. Private educational institutions that applied the highest price increases in tuition fees, meals, books-stationery, and uniforms were fined 66,207,880 lira. NO ESCAPE FOR THOSE SELLING BREAD AT HIGH PRICES Bakeries, butcher shops, and markets selling products at exorbitant prices were fined 52,824,640 lira.
