Continued Real Decrease in Housing Prices

Housing prices increased by 2.8 percent nationwide in Turkey in February. However, housing prices decreased by 5.6 percent in real terms. The Central Bank announced the February housing price statistics. According to this data, housing prices rose by 2.8 percent in February compared to the previous month. In real terms, prices decreased by 5.6 percent. The Housing Price Index (HPI) increased by 2.8 percent in February compared to the previous month, reaching 170.5. The HPI, which surged by 31.3 percent compared to the same month the previous year, experienced a real decline of 5.6 percent during the same period. In February, housing prices in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir increased by 2.6 percent, 3.3 percent, and 3.8 percent respectively. The index values in Istanbul, Ankara, and Izmir increased by 28.4 percent, 37.2 percent, and 32.7 percent respectively compared to the same month the previous year.
