Construction activities are intensifying in earthquake-prone areas. While daily wages for workers in major cities can reach 4,500 lira, this figure rises to 7,000 lira in earthquake-prone areas. There are approximately 3,500 construction sites in operation in the earthquake zone. The intense construction activities in the region are directly impacting worker daily wages. According to a report in Türkiye Newspaper, a construction worker’s daily wage in Istanbul can reach 4,500 lira, while it exceeds 7,000 lira in earthquake-prone areas. Sector officials point out that the majority of qualified personnel have moved to the region, leading to a labor shortage in Istanbul. Officials state that many foremen have relocated to the earthquake zone, resulting in prices there starting to be demanded in major cities as well. It is reported that 182,000 construction workers are active in the region.
