Citizen loaded their cards in January: A spending of 1.6 trillion liras

The card-based spending of citizens increased in January. A total of 1.6 trillion liras was spent with credit, bank, and prepaid cards. The number of credit cards in Turkey exceeded 130 million in January. According to the Interbank Card Center (BKM) data, the total payment amount made with credit cards, bank cards, and prepaid cards in January increased by 66% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1.61 trillion liras. BKM announced its data for January, revealing that the number of credit cards in Turkey was 130.2 million, bank cards 195.6 million, and prepaid cards 113.1 million. Compared to last January, there was a 9% increase in the number of credit cards, 3% in bank cards, and a 24% increase in prepaid cards. CARD PAYMENTS INCREASED BY 66% The total payment amount made in January with credit cards, bank cards, and prepaid cards increased by 66% compared to the same period of the previous year, reaching 1.61 trillion liras. Out of this, 1.3665 trillion liras were paid with credit cards, 207.8 billion liras with bank cards, and 32.4 billion liras with prepaid cards. The growth rate in payments made with credit cards compared to the same period last year was 69%, 47% with bank cards, and 78% with prepaid cards. PAYMENT NUMBER INCREASED BY 12% The total number of payments made in January with credit cards, bank cards, and prepaid cards increased by 12% compared to the same period last year, reaching 1.58 billion. Out of this, 913.2 million were done with credit cards, 538.1 million with bank cards, and 125.9 million with prepaid cards. The growth rate in the number of payments made with credit cards compared to the same period last year was 15%, 8% with bank cards, and 18% with prepaid cards.
