Chinese automotive giants heading to Turkey! They will establish factories in Manisa and Samsun

Details have emerged regarding the automotive investments announced by President Erdogan. It has been reported that work is progressing rapidly at the BYD factory in Manisa, which was signed last year. Another automotive giant, Chery, is said to be preparing for Samsun. Minister of Industry and Technology, Fatih Kacır, shared the latest developments in automotive sector investments. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan had previously announced new investments following his visits to Malaysia, Indonesia, and Pakistan. Erdogan stated that two Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers will establish factories in Turkey, saying, “We have made an agreement with a Chinese company. They are planning to establish a factory in Manisa. Another Chinese brand is also planning to set up a factory in Samsun. Work on these projects is ongoing.” Kacır explained the details of the automotive investments announced by President Erdogan. CURRENT SITUATION OF BYD INVESTMENT During a program on CNN Turk, Minister Kacır mentioned the agreement signed with BYD last year, stating, “BYD has taken its place in the organized industrial zone in Manisa. They are progressing rapidly, with a $1 billion investment. The factory will have a production capacity of 150,000 and will provide 5,000 direct and 25,000 indirect employment opportunities.” CHERY COMING TO SAMSUN Minister Kacır indicated that discussions with the Chinese automotive giant Chery are nearing completion, saying, “Our negotiations with other brands are also close to being finalized. Our goal is to bring a second major investment to Samsun. We are in serious dialogue with Chery regarding Samsun. It seems like this deal will happen.” Kacır also added that they expect the capacity and investment amount of the factory to be established in Samsun to be at least as large as BYD’s.
