Central Bank to Meet with Banks

Today, the Central Bank will meet with the management of the Turkish Banks Association. The President of the Central Bank, Fatih Karahan, is expected to meet with the management of the Turkish Banks Association (TBB) today. The technical meeting, which will also be attended by the Deputy President of the CBRT, Cevdet Akcay, and CBRT officials, is expected to start at 3:00 pm today. Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek also met with the TBB Board of Directors one Friday evening. Simsek stated that significant achievements have been made thanks to the economic program, saying, “necessary measures will continue to be taken to protect and improve these achievements. We have sufficient tools at our disposal. There is no doubt about the implementation of the program. We are working in close coordination with our institutions.” Simsek also mentioned that “temporary fluctuations in the markets are closely monitored in coordination with all relevant institutions, measures have been taken, and any necessary further measures have been identified. The program will be steadfastly continued.” TBB Board Chairman Alpaslan Cakar stated that the sector believes in the program, provides support, and works in very close communication and coordination with the economic management.
