Central Bank and Banking Association Convene | Karahan: We Will Do Everything Necessary

A technical meeting was held between the Central Bank and the Banking Association of Turkey. During the meeting, it was emphasized that with close cooperation of all relevant institutions, all necessary tools within market rules will continue to be effectively and decisively used to maintain stability. Central Bank President Fatih Karahan stated that he will do everything necessary within market rules.
Officials from the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) and representatives of banks as members of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Banking Association (TBB) gathered to evaluate the latest developments in markets. According to an announcement on the TBB’s website, Central Bank officials and TBB Board of Directors members representing banks discussed the recent developments in the markets. The announcement stated that the planned meeting on March 21 was hosted by the Central Bank and emphasized that “In the technical meeting, it was indicated that with the close cooperation of all relevant institutions, all necessary tools within market rules will continue to be used effectively and decisively to maintain stability.”
STATEMENT FROM PRESIDENT KARAHAN Central Bank President Fatih Karahan stated that he will do everything necessary within market rules.
Karahan said, “We prioritize that the measures we take are market-friendly.” He used the expression, “Our communication channels are always open in both directions.”
