Çayırhan workers marching towards Ankara

Workers in Çayırhan have initiated a march to Ankara in response to the privatization decision of the thermal power plant and mine area in Çayırhan.
The workers of Çayırhan Thermal Power Plant have once again started a march towards Ankara.
The General President of the Turkish Miners’ Union, Nurettin Akçul, stated, “We paused our progress to start the negotiation process. However, not a single step has been taken for months.”
Reminding that the privatization scheduled for December 2024 has been postponed to March of this year, Akçul said, “We no longer want postponements and delays; we want a complete withdrawal from this decision.”
The Çayırhan workers had initiated a protest against the privatization decision on November 20, 2024, and started marching towards Ankara.
Following the extension of the deadline for submitting bids in the tender by the Privatization Administration, the march and work stoppage were temporarily suspended by the workers.
