Following the statements made by Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, eyes are now on the new holiday bonus payments. In addition to retirees, widows and orphans benefiting from holiday bonuses will also be eligible. The retirement holiday bonuses, given twice a year, were most recently increased by 50% to 3,000 liras. So, how much will the holiday bonuses be raised by? Here are the latest developments regarding the rate of increase…In 2025, the minimum wage, retirement pensions, civil servants’ salaries, and many other payment categories were announced to increase. The work related to the holiday bonus affecting approximately 16.5 million retirees will start shortly. Minister of Labor and Social Security, Vedat Işıkhan, stated, “We will work on the retirees’ holiday bonuses.” Social Security Institution, Bağ-Kur, and Retirement Fund retirees were recently given a 50% increase in holiday bonuses, raising it to 3,000 liras. Last year, retirees received a total of 6,000 liras in holiday bonuses during Eid al-Adha and Ramadan.
Holiday bonuses, which were given as 1,000 liras in 2018, have since increased by 200%. After the completion of the work on holiday bonuses, the definite rate of increase will be determined. The beneficiaries include recipients of retirement pensions, elderly benefits, disability pensions, death benefits, as well as permanent incapacity and death benefits, and veterans, combat veterans, security guards, champion athletes, civilians affected by terrorism, and their dependents will receive holiday bonuses. Additionally, beneficiaries of widows’ and orphans’ pensions will also benefit based on their eligibility rates. After the percentage of increase in holiday bonuses is determined, another point of interest is the payment dates. This year, Ramadan Holiday will be celebrated on March 30th.
