Business Sector Calls for Credit Card Limit Increase to 5 Million Turkish Lira

The business sector has demanded an increase in the credit card limit to 5 million Turkish Lira for tax payments. Gürsel Baran, the President of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce Board, requested the credit card limit for tax payments, currently at 1 million Turkish Lira, to be raised to 5 million Turkish Lira. According to a statement from the Chamber, Baran and Vice President Temel Aktay visited the President of the Revenue Administration (GIB) Bekir Bayrakdar at his office. During the meeting, Baran evaluated the implications of global and domestic developments on the real sector, expressing the need for the upper limit for tax payments with credit cards to be updated from the current level of 1 million Turkish Lira to 5 million Turkish Lira. Baran reminded that ATO had previously raised the issue of tax payments with credit cards, stating: “The Revenue Administration had initiated the practice. The limit is currently at 1 million Turkish Lira. With the decrease in cash usage due to digitalization, all transactions are inevitably made with credit cards. Since the current limit is inadequate for tax payments, we have requested the limit to be raised to 5 million Turkish Lira. Mr. Bayrakdar welcomed the issue with interest and gave instructions for further action. Increasing the limits will contribute to elevating the level of tax collection with credit cards and economic recovery.”
