Bulgarians no longer coming for shopping

Bulgarians are no longer coming to Turkey for shopping. In previous years, the Turkish Lira had experienced sharp depreciation against other currencies. Due to the exchange rate differences, Bulgarians used to flock to Edirne. However, with the slowdown in currency fluctuations, the arrival of Bulgarians has decreased. The decrease in Bulgarian tourists has affected the business of the local shop owners. It is noted that many shop owners are either transferring, renting, or selling their businesses. About a 60% decrease is reported in business. Shop owners mention that the decline is around 50-60%, stating that “The stable exchange rate has pushed them to prefer other countries over Turkey.”
