Automotive Export Approaching $3 Billion

In February, the Turkish automotive industry conducted nearly $3 billion in exports. According to the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), the sector experienced a 4.7% decrease in exports compared to the same period in 2024. The “supply industry” group led in external sales within the automotive sector, with exports totaling $1.224 billion. Passenger car exports in February decreased by 0.6% to $920 million compared to the same month last year, while bus-minibus-midibus exports declined by 9.5% to $211 million. Goods-carrying motor vehicles saw exports amounting to $480 million, and tractor exports were recorded at $116 million. Export to Germany, the country with the highest exports in the supply industry, decreased by 7% compared to February last year. Notable increases in exports were seen to important markets such as a 23% increase to Romania, 41% to Spain, and 27% to the Czech Republic. France, the largest market for passenger cars, saw parallel export performance compared to the same period last year. Significant increases in exports were recorded to Spain by 68%, Slovenia by 90%, and Portugal by 251%. In the goods-carrying motor vehicles category, a triple-digit increase was observed with 120% to Germany and 198% to Spain. For bus-minibus-midibus products, there were increases of 63% to the United Kingdom, and triple-digit increases to Poland and Serbia. The highest export destination, Germany, received a 7% increase with products worth $470 million. Exports to France decreased by 5% to $316 million, while exports to the United Kingdom saw a 17% decrease to $299 million.
