Attention! June 14 Deadline: Unclaimed Funds to be Transferred to TMSF

A total of 507 million lira, forgotten in accounts without any activity for 10 years, has been transferred to TMSF. For the accounts that have reached the statute of limitations as of December 31, 2024, and were announced in 2025, customers must apply to the relevant bank by June 14th. In accordance with the 8th article of the “Regulation on Principles and Procedures Regarding the Admission, Withdrawal, and Statute of Limitations of Deposits, Participation Funds, Trusts, and Receivables” published in the Official Gazette dated November 1, 2006, and numbered 26333, lists of all deposits, participation funds, trusts, and receivables that have reached the statute of limitations at banks are announced on the websites of the relevant banks and TMSF for a period of 4 months starting from the beginning of February. These accounts, if not claimed after 10 years, are transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund (TMSF). This year, accounts that were last active in 2014 are being transferred to the fund. According to the announcements made by banks regarding accounts that have reached the statute of limitations, accounts that have not been claimed by the rightful owners or heirs until June 14th will be transferred to TMSF. The total amount of various currency accounts that have reached the statute of limitations as of December 31, 2023, and were transferred to TMSF in 2024 is approximately 507 million lira. This amount includes 124 million 88 thousand 469.77 lira, 4 million 597 thousand 28.82 dollars, 5 million 653 thousand 976.67 euros, among other currencies. The number of total accounts that have reached the statute of limitations and have been reported to TMSF by banks is recorded as 1 million 672 thousand 473. In 2023, a value of 429 million 876 thousand 477.77 lira was transferred to TMSF from 1 million 611 thousand 46 forgotten accounts. Customers must apply to the relevant bank by June 14th for the accounts that have reached the statute of limitations as of December 31, 2024, and were announced in 2025.
