The Public Oversight Authority has decided to pay the overtime exceeding 120 hours to the assistant doctor at the university hospital. The Public Oversight Authority (POA) ensured payment of the overtime exceeding 120 hours to the assistant doctor at Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center. The assistant doctor at Inonu University Turgut Ozal Medical Center, who worked more than 120 hours of overtime in May and June of 2024, requested the difference to be paid by the hospital management but did not receive a response. Subsequently, the doctor who turned to the POA stated that the provision of law prohibiting payment for overtime exceeding 120 hours in emergency duty had been canceled by the Constitutional Court, and requested the remaining amount to be paid with interest. The application was reviewed by the POA, which held consultations with the Office of the Rector at Inonu University to fulfill the request. The Rector’s Office informed that the overtime exceeding 120 hours in emergency duty and the overtime falling on religious and official holidays would be calculated and paid. In its response letter sent to the POA, the Rector’s Office stated: “In order to resolve the complaint in an amicable manner, our institution will calculate and pay the portion of emergency duty overtime exceeding 120 hours and the portion of emergency duty overtime falling on religious and official holidays with a 25% increase to the aforementioned specialist student.”
