Artificial Intelligence Race in China: Tencent Overtakes DeepSeek

The competition in artificial intelligence is intensifying in China. Tencent’s application has surpassed DeepSeek and become the most downloaded application. Competition among Chinese artificial intelligence applications has been accelerating. The success quickly achieved by DeepSeek has spurred action among Chinese technology companies. Tencent Holdings’ Yuanbao artificial intelligence chatbot, this week, surpassed DeepSeek as the most downloaded iPhone application in China. Three out of the top five most downloaded free applications in the country are now occupied by artificial intelligence bots. ByteDance’s Doubao application falls behind Tencent and DeepSeek. Alibaba also announced a $53 billion investment in artificial intelligence. Experts believe that this situation highlights the level of domestic competition in the country. Tencent, the world’s largest game distributor, has its WeChat platform used by over 1.4 billion people. With support from the company’s other applications, Tencent is considered to have secured the top position in the artificial intelligence race.
