Applications Open for Turkey-Syria Electricity Trade

The Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK) announced the opening of capacity allocation applications for electricity trade between Turkey and Syria. According to the announcement on the institution’s website, legal entities holding supply or production licenses who want to export electricity to Syria using the Reyhanlı-Afrin Interconnection Line and legal entities holding supply licenses who want to import electricity from Syria must apply to the EPDK by the end of business hours on Tuesday, April 1st at the latest. In addition, the supply license holder STE Electricity Energy Supply Wholesale Import Export Limited Company has applied for a license amendment by December 15th to increase the existing capacity from 40 megawatts to a maximum of 100 megawatts for exporting electricity to Syria using the isolated area feeding method through the existing line from Reyhanlı TM.
