Apple’s New China Strategy: Joining Forces with Alibaba

American company Apple and Chinese company Alibaba are preparing for a partnership in artificial intelligence. Apple will offer an artificial intelligence application to iPhone users in China through Alibaba, in an effort to regain the market share it had lost in the country. Instead of teaming up with DeepSeek for providing AI features in China, Apple will collaborate with Alibaba, citing the size of personal data the latter company possesses as a key factor in the decision. Apple CEO Tim Cook had linked the recent 11% drop in iPhone sales in China to the absence of an AI application. Following the news, Alibaba’s stock rose by 10%.
