Alibaba is set to invest over 53 billion dollars in artificial intelligence over the next three years. The e-commerce giant Alibaba has announced its plan to invest more than 380 billion yuan (53 billion dollars) in artificial intelligence in the next three years. It was reported that the company plans to spend more than it has in the last decade on artificial intelligence and cloud computing networks. According to an announcement from Alibaba’s official blog, the company aims to be a significant partner for companies developing and implementing artificial intelligence. In 2024, the company had increased its spending from 24 billion yuan to 72.5 billion yuan (approximately 10 billion dollars). This increase was largely attributed to investments in artificial intelligence language model training and processor and infrastructure. On the other hand, while Alibaba’s move is a significant step for China, it lags behind its U.S. competitors. Microsoft aims to invest 80 billion dollars, and Meta aims for a 65 billion dollar investment in artificial intelligence.
