Eastern Black Sea Region to Receive 394 Billion Lira Funding

The Minister of Industry and Technology, Mr. Kacır, announced that 394 billion lira will be allocated to the region within the scope of the Eastern Black Sea Project. Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır stated that they aim to allocate 394 billion lira to the region over a five-year period with the Eastern Black Sea Project (DOKAP) action plan. Kacır said, “Within the scope of the DOKAP Action Plan, we plan to allocate 394 billion lira for the 158 projects we aim to implement over a five-year period.” The DOKAP includes the provinces of Artvin, Bayburt, Giresun, Gümüşhane, Ordu, Rize, Samsun, Trabzon, Tokat, Amasya, and Çorum. The project aims to accelerate the development of these 11 provinces where six million people live. In Samsun, investments in the medical, defense, machinery, and automotive sub-industries will be prioritized, while in Trabzon, investments in the shipbuilding industry will be emphasized. Kacır also mentioned their goal to increase the region’s agricultural gross domestic product from 130 billion lira to 209 billion lira and to raise the rehabilitated pasture area from 2.8 million decares to 3.5 million decares. He also noted that they have allocated 30.3 billion lira to support investments in the tourism sector, aiming to increase the number of tourists visiting the region from 2.8 million to 4.5 million and the number of overnight stays from 4.9 million to 9 million. A 500 billion lira development initiative was previously launched for the Southeastern Anatolia region to enhance regional development. In addition, the Konya Plain Project (KOP), which includes 350 billion lira in investments focusing on irrigation, was announced in January. Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz stated that the projects will continue with Erzurum.
