Istanbul Airport has implemented a triple independent runway application. Turkey became the first country in Europe to implement this practice.

A new era of simultaneous triple independent runway has begun at Istanbul Airport.

With the new system, Istanbul Airport will now be able to handle 3 aircraft taking off or landing at the same time.

While the triple independent runway operation is already in place in the US, Turkey has become the first country in Europe to implement this practice.

Speaking at the Istanbul Airport Triple Runway Flight Operation Launch Ceremony, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu stated that this implementation has enhanced Turkey’s vision that transcends borders.

Uraloğlu highlighted that Istanbul Airport has ascended to the top tier of global aviation.

Minister Uraloğlu mentioned that with the triple independent runway operation, the traffic flow at Istanbul Airport will accelerate, and its dynamic capacity will increase.

Istanbul Airport, known as one of the busiest airports in Europe, saw an average of 1,326 flights daily from March 17 to March 23.
