Is the era of cheap shopping coming to an end?

The trade wars have shifted the balance in e-commerce. Chinese online shopping giants, Temu and Shein, have decided to increase prices of their products sold in the US.

The customs tariffs imposed by the US have hit e-commerce companies hard. Chinese online shopping giants, Temu and Shein, announced that they will raise prices for their US customers starting from next week. The companies did not disclose the exact percentage of the price increase. The fact that both competitive companies made similar announcements drew attention. This decision came after US President Donald Trump imposed tariffs on Chinese products. The companies highlighted in their announcement that operational costs have increased due to customs tariffs. The price hikes will be effective starting from April 25th. It was expected that Chinese companies would announce price hikes following the customs tariffs.

Experts have suggested that due to the tariffs, the price increases could be significant, resulting in the end of the era of low-priced products in the US. ADDITIONAL TARIFFS INTRODUCED, EXEMPTIONS REMOVED The US started imposing a 145% customs duty on products coming from China. Additionally, the customs exemption for products under $800 was removed starting from May 2nd. There were 4 million low-value packages entering the US from China daily. The tax rate applied to certain products like electric vehicles and injectors has reached 245%.
