Slowdown in Construction Production

Construction production in Turkey decreased by 0.3 percent in February on a monthly basis. However, there was a 12.7 percent increase in production on an annual basis. The Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) released the construction production index for February. According to the data, the index saw a 12.7 percent increase in February compared to the same month last year. When looking at the subsectors of construction, the index showed increases in building construction by 14.9 percent, non-building construction by 10.3 percent, and private construction activities by 7.1 percent in February compared to the previous year. On a monthly basis, the construction production index in February decreased by 0.3 percent. This decrease was attributed to a 0.9 percent decline in building construction, a 0.2 percent decrease in non-building construction, and a 1.6 percent increase in private construction activities compared to the previous month.
