The Competition Board has approved the transfer of MACFit sports clubs in Turkey, which has 121 branches, to Benefit Systems.

The Competition Board has given approval for the transfer of Mars Sports Club and Facilities Management Inc., which includes the sports chain MACFit, to the Poland-based Benefit Systems S.A. With this decision, Poland-based Benefit Systems will take over all the shares of Mars Sports.

The deal, which is said to be worth 420 million dollars, is significant for the fitness industry in Turkey. Mars Sports, which has 121 MACFit-branded fitness salons across Turkey, has made a name for itself, especially in major cities, with investments from Esas Holding and private equity fund Actera Group in 2010.
