Homeowners Beware! You Can Face Penalties

The deadline for submitting declarations for those earning rental income ends today. It is crucial to pay attention to the limits of 33,000 lira for residential properties and 230,000 lira for commercial properties. Income taxpayers are still in the process of submitting and paying their declarations for the year 2024. Due to requests received during Ramadan Bayram, the declaration period was extended from April 2nd to April 7th. Taxpayers who are taxed on their commercial, agricultural, and professional activities in the real method can submit their annual income tax declarations electronically. WHO NEEDS TO SUBMIT DECLARATIONS? Landlords who earn a minimum annual rental income of 33,000 lira from residential properties and 230,000 lira from commercial properties in 2024 will have to pay income tax. Those earning rental income below the exemption limit will not need to submit a declaration. WHEN SHOULD TAXES BE PAID? Income tax accrued on annual income tax declarations for the profits earned in the calendar year 2024 can be paid in two equal installments in April and July of 2025. The first installment, along with stamp duty, must be paid by April 7th, and the second installment can be paid by July 31st. PENALTIES FOR NON-PAYMENT Those who fail to submit their declaration electronically within the legal deadline will face a special procedural penalty. Additionally, failure to accrue tax on time will result in additional tax loss penalties and late payment interest.
