Meta has announced the latest version of its experimental smart glasses, called Aria Gen 2, developed to support their work in the field of technology. These glasses aim to contribute to shaping future computing platforms by being available in academic and commercial research laboratories. Increasing its investment in smart glasses recently, Meta introduced its latest product, Aria Gen 2, in this area. Described as an enhanced version of Aria Gen 1 introduced in 2020, the glasses were designed as a tool to assist in robotic systems, advanced sensors, and various technological studies. Aria Gen 2 is equipped with more advanced sensors than its predecessor, providing higher accuracy and data collection capacity. Thanks to specialized chips developed by Meta, the glasses can perform complex calculations independently, offering researchers faster data processing capabilities.

Added with a new sensor, Aria Gen 2 can now measure heart rate, providing a significant innovation in collecting and analyzing biometric data. One of the most significant enhancements compared to the previous model is that the glasses can now be used for 24 hours on a single charge. In a blog post, Meta stated, “By offering these glasses to academic and commercial research laboratories through Project Aria, we will help the public better understand important technologies that will shape the future of computing and artificial intelligence.”

Besides the Aria series used in research, the company also values Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses for daily use. These glasses come with a voice AI assistant and can capture photos and videos. Additionally, the prototype of augmented reality glasses Orion, supported by artificial intelligence, was introduced last September.
