36 thousand young people to receive free train tickets from the EU

The European Union will provide free train tickets for 36 thousand young people to travel around Europe. The European Union (EU) Commission announced that 36 thousand free pass cards will be distributed to 18-year-old youths residing in countries associated with the Erasmus+ program, including Turkey. In a written statement by the EU Commission, it was revealed that under the program called “DiscoverEU,” young people will be provided with 36 thousand travel cards. The applications have begun today, and successful applicants will be able to travel by train across Europe for 30 days between July 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026. The announcement specified that applicants must have been born between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, and be residents of countries associated with the Erasmus+ program, such as EU countries, Iceland, Liechtenstein, North Macedonia, Norway, Serbia, and Turkey. It was also noted that the deadline for applications is April 16 at 1:00 PM CET. The “DiscoverEU” program, part of the Erasmus+ grant program covering education, youth, and sports sectors initiated by the EU in 2018 and implemented from 2021 to 2027, had already provided more than 355 thousand travel cards.
