30% Price Increase on Dates: Current Prices at Stalls

In Eminönü, Istanbul, prices vary from shop to shop, with a 30% increase compared to last year.
The type and size of dates determine the prices; starting from 140 Turkish Liras per kilogram, they go up to 650 Turkish Liras. Depending on the type and size of the dates, there are price differences of 70-80 Turkish Liras. The price of Jerusalem dates is relatively higher compared to other varieties. Some shops also offer discounts specifically for Ramadan. Shopkeepers mention offering discounts of 30-40 Turkish Liras on products, stating that the activity will increase towards the end of the month. Ramadan begins on Saturday, March 1, 2025.
