200.9 Million Lira Fine for Those Engaging in Excessive Price Hikes

During the month of Ramadan, 9,926 individuals who were found to engage in unjustified and excessive price hikes were fined a total of 200.9 million lira in administrative penalties.
The Ministry of Trade continues its inspections during the Ramadan period.
According to the ministry’s announcement, as a result of the inspections, a total of 9,926 real and legal persons were fined 200.9 million lira for unjustified and excessive price hikes.
The statement included the following statements:
“During the month of Ramadan, a total of 9,926 real and legal persons were fined 200.9 million TL, while in the first 3 months of 2025 (January-March), a total of 27,321 real and legal persons were fined 655.2 million TL in administrative penalties. Especially before the holiday, during the month of Ramadan, our Trade Provincial Directorates in 81 provinces carried out inspections in only March, with 46,474 companies inspected, 9,525 companies found to be non-compliant, and 46,507 products resulting in 134.6 million TL in administrative fines. In total, during the first 3 months of 2025, a total of 25,783 real and legal persons were fined a total of 296.4 million TL as a result of inspections by the Trade Provincial Directorates. In the first 3 months of 2025, our Trade Provincial Directorates inspected a total of 108,802 companies and 8,922,234 products.”
